The Creative Arts Program encourages artistic, cognitive and
social development
Most
children really enjoy the Creative Arts Program! Most
low-income families cannot afford fee-based enrichment
activities that stimulate their children’s creative abilities
and at the same time nurture their intelligence.
The
arts encourages creativity, cognitive and social development
As a result, Up On Top provides opportunities in the arts for
low-income children that support learning and healthy
development. The Creative Arts Program’s meets the following
objectives:
- To increase students’ literacy skills since arts
education has been proven to do this, especially with
children from economically disadvantaged circumstances and
those with reading difficulties in the early and middle
grades.
- To increase students’ success in school since the arts
help them become better problem-solvers and gain more
self-confidence.
This year’s program will feature singing, dancing and making
music and art. The kids will develop shows in collaboration with
some of the most talented artistic professionals in the Bay
Area. They will create original performances and community
celebrations that bring neighbors and friends together in fun,
playful ways.
The kids attend two hour-long workshops weekly at the
Unitarian Church campus and work toward a performance at the end
of each term for their family, friends and the Up On Top
community. |
